For our partner RWA Hrvatska d.o.o., we delivered a complete fertilizer packaging line.
The line is fully automated, with a capacity of 600 bags per hour. The fertilizer is packed into 25 kg plastic bags. At the end of the line, a pallet with neatly stacked bags is automatically wrapped with stretch hood film and prepared for forklift pickup.
The entire project—concept development, equipment design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning—was carried out by our dedicated team of engineers, programmers, and technicians at Strojrem.
The project involved the design, manufacturing, and integration of a complete automated line for dosing, weighing, packaging, palletizing, and pallet handling of granulated fertilizer. The system processes free-flowing fertilizer granules up to 5 mm in size with a bulk density of 0.8–1.1 t/m³, operating under standard ambient conditions.
Product Handling and Feeding
The fertilizer is delivered to the production line by a loader and discharged into a receiving hopper with a capacity of 10 m³. The hopper is equipped with sensors and signaling systems to monitor the material level. From there, the material is transported by a belt conveyor to the bagging machine for further processing.
Dosing, Weighing and Packaging
The packaging system automatically forms bags from tubular PVC film, fills them using a precise dosing and weighing system, and seals them. The system produces 25 kg fertilizer bags with a capacity of up to 600 bags per hour. A thermal transfer printer marks each bag with essential information such as declaration, barcode, batch number, and packaging date. A bag alignment device ensures the bags are compact and correctly shaped for palletizing.
Robotic Palletizing System
Filled bags are transported to a palletizing station where a Fanuc industrial robot picks up each bag and stacks it onto pallets. The system places a slip sheet before the first layer and organizes the bags in structured layers. Each pallet contains 50 bags (10 layers) with a maximum pallet height of 1800 mm, reaching a capacity of 12 pallets per hour.
Pallet Handling Line
The pallet handling system automatically supplies empty pallets from a pallet magazine and transports them to the palletizing station. After palletizing, the full pallets are transferred via roller conveyors to the wrapping station and finally to the output area where they are collected by a forklift.
Stretch Hood Wrapping System
The stretch hood machine automatically applies stretchable tubular film over the finished pallet load, ensuring stable and protected transport. The system can wrap pallets up to 1800 mm high with a capacity of 12 pallets per hour.
Control and Automation
The entire line is controlled by a Siemens Simatic S7 PLC and equipped with high-quality components from leading industrial suppliers such as Siemens, Festo, Balluff, Nord, SEW, and Rulmeca. The automated system ensures reliable operation, high productivity, and precise process control.
